Learning Cohorts
A guided, interactive journey to train and develop forward-thinking, innovative leaders
Do you ever wish you could speak freely about your aspirations as a ministry leader, and the vision you have for the communities you currently serve or will serve in the future? Do you feel stifled as a leader and innovator, and need a space where you can brainstorm and build out an idea? Do you realize the world’s need for innovative leaders in the ministry space, but struggle to meet the task?
Are you looking for a place to learn, grow, and refine your skills as an innovative leader in the 21st century?
A Learning Cohort is the Hub4Innovation's most exclusive offering. We take you on a guided, multi-month experience that helps you develop a taste for doing the impossible within your role as a leader and/or community influence.
Through an intentional curriculum developed from the personal experiences of Rachel Billups, Matt Rawle, and Hub4Innovation partners, Learning Cohorts create a space where you are given permission to ask questions, develop ideas, and glean from the knowledge of tenured ministry leaders.
What is a Learning Cohort…exactly?
We get this question a lot! A “Learning Cohort” isn’t a commonly used term, which is fitting, since we are here to teach you about being innovative and bringing new ideas to the table.
We don’t just tell you what you need to know. We walk alongside you as you develop a skill.
Which is precisely what innovation and leadership are! They are skills that are waiting to be developed.
A select group of people who come together to learn, understand, and immerse themselves in a new topic or idea that they have yet to wrestle with before.
A Hub4Innovation Learning Cohort pulls a small group of people together to learn about and improve their skill at being innovative leaders in their organizations and ministries. We’re focused on teaching you a new skill, but in a very active, conversational fashion.
What is included in a Learning Cohort?
When you join a Hub4Innovation Learning Cohort, you aren’t just joining a class or signing up for a series of homework assignments. You are joining a small group of people who will spend the following months walking together and developing their skill as leaders and innovators.
Every month, you will have the unique opportunity to hear from tenured ministry leaders and innovators, and to actively be taught and mentored by experts in ministry.
Every month, we will gather together, either in-person or via Zoom, for group discussion, collaboration, and application.
Transformation happens in circles, not rows, which is why we believe in engaging with you, rather than talking at you. By focusing on conversing instead of lecturing, we are able to help you develop the skill of thinking outside the box and coloring outside of the lines.
During these sessions, we also book some of the top leaders and innovators in 21st century ministry! Every leader has a different story, experience, perspective, and strategy, and by inviting major voices in the ministry space to the Learning Cohort table, we expose you to new ways of thinking and new methods of innovating.
These monthly group sessions also offer you the opportunity to expand your network and develop a community of fellow innovative leaders in ministry. Our hope is that you would build new relationships and connections with your fellow cohorts that will follow you beyond the confines of the Learning Cohort.
Building these strong relationships will not only grow your network within ministry, but it will reinforce the belief and confidence you need to continue innovating and leading boldly once the Learning Cohort is complete.
At the beginning of the Learning Cohort, you will be paired with one of our facilitators, who will commit to mentoring you on a monthly basis throughout the Cohort.
Just like we believe that transformation begins with healthy group conversation, we believe that it is enhanced with a mentor guiding you through the process.
1:1 mentorship within the Learning Cohort is truly invaluable, because you get direct access to a goldmine of experience, expertise, and knowledge. You will have the opportunity to brainstorm about your ideas, refine your ideas, and feel empowered to take action.
As we march through the Learning Cohort, we encourage mentees to take full advantage of the access to and time they have with their mentor. It is an incredible opportunity to grow, expand, and improve, making it easier to innovate when such a situation arises.
While we love our time spent with you as a group and in 1:1 settings, we also understand the value of self-reflection and work done on one’s own. That’s why we’ve developed in-depth coursework to be done in-between our group sessions.
The coursework is designed to enhance your experience in the group sessions and in your 1:1 time with your mentor. It will help you build out ideas, gain clarity, and create roadmaps for you to move forward with what you are learning in the Learning Cohort.
— Value Gained —
At the end of the Learning Cohort, you will not only feel empowered as a leader and innovator, but you will be prepared to tackle the real-world challenges that ministry presents. You will have the tools you need to make decisions and creatively adapt to the situations you will inevitably face.
Being an innovative leader doesn’t just mean that you present ground-breaking ideas. The heart of being an innovative leader is the ability to meet the needs of those you are leading without limiting yourself to past (and oftentimes outdated) systems and structures.
Prepared. Empowered. Unlocked.
But…what if I don’t consider myself a leader or innovator?
Leadership and innovation are both skills. Very few people are born with the ability to do these things effectively, but anyone can develop the skills needed to lead others towards necessary change.
When you’re a part of a Hub4Innovation Learning Cohort, you have the chance to find YOUR voice as a leader. We all lead, imagine, and execute ideas and strategies differently, and our goal is to help you find your personal rhythm and method.
